    The name

My nickname is Gizmo. I'm a child of the 80s, and my dad gave me the name because I was the kid who could figure out how to make things work. GizmoBuild is that, as a business.

  2. 022008

    The long way around

After high school I worked in restaurants: waiting tables, bartending, then managing. Somewhere around 24 I hit a ceiling, went back to school, and finished a degree in Information Systems Security in 2008. I've worked in tech ever since.

    Where I cut my teeth

I cut my teeth at B-Line Medical, a small medical simulation company that grew into an industry leader. I started in customer support, moved into account and client relationship management, then ran the support team.

Then B-Line was acquired by an industry leader in manikin-based simulation, and my scope got a lot wider. Today I'm a product manager there.

  4. 042017 to 2019

    Tech that does some good

Along the way I founded the B-Line Medical Charitable Fund and ran it as director. We worked with Mercy Ships and with Saving Children's Lives, a program that trains local providers in rural Botswana and Tanzania in basic life support. I organized Music in Action, benefit concerts where every dollar raised went to that training.

That work also made me a published author: a peer-reviewed study in PLOS ONE (2019) on assessing clinicians remotely, by video. I helped design it and built the software side.

    The first try

My first business, started with a partner, worked on crypto taxation. In 2018 TurboTax featured us as one of its crypto tax partners. We celebrated a lot of small successes along the way, but in the end the business lasted about a year. Winding it down made me more careful and more deliberate about every decision I make. In hindsight, it was a blessing.

    Why now

The barrier to building software dropped a long way. I build with AI, which means I can charge less for the development and take on ideas people had written off as out of reach. Helping them reach those ideas is the point.

GizmoBuild, LLC was filed in Maryland in April 2026.

    What we build

Two things. Niche software for markets where the existing tools are bad and the people deserve better. SquadRotate, for example, started as my own game-day problem as a youth soccer coach.

And hands-on help for small businesses that want a builder instead of an agency: websites, shops, booking, marketing, the numbers.

  8. 08Off hours

    Off the clock

I'm a husband and a father of two. I coach youth soccer. And I'm a musician and a lifelong music lover, which is how a medical simulation company ended up throwing benefit concerts.
